The Beef Cattle Short Course is nationally and internationally recognized as the largest attended beef cattle educational program of its type in the world. It has gained the respect from organizations, associations, Land Grant universities and agencies alike as the focal point for beef cattle educational information. The Cattleman’s College features more than 20 concurrent sessions. Topics include animal health, nutrition, reproduction, breeding, genetics, selection, research, marketing and handling. Management sessions will cover business, forage, range, and purebred cattle. Sessions are designed for everyone, from the newest member of the industry to the most seasoned producer.

The Ranch Management University is an intensive 4-day event that targets new or inexperienced ranchers and landowners and covers the fundamentals of soils and soil fertility, forage establishment, pasture management, and utilization by livestock. Basic livestock management practices such as castrating, vaccinating, and de-horning calves are demonstrated. Grazing management, stocking rate, and body condition scoring are also highlighted. Additionally, several wildlife management topics are covered for those interested in managing white-tailed deer, turkey, quail, feral hogs, and farm ponds.

The South Texas Farm & Ranch Show is a non-profit, volunteer managed event organized by South Texas Farm & Ranch Show Committee and Texas A&M Agrilife Extension – Victoria County. The show offers the opportunity to communicate industry advances to farmers, ranchers, agribusiness, and the general public from exhibitors. The show usually hosts around 1000 individuals.
Training classes are also offered for Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator license. The Lunch program has speakers on current industry topics. Most educational programs are based on Agricultural Literacy.
